Cajun Archery Releases Improved Piranha and Piranha Long Barb Bowfishng Tips

Logan, UT- Cajun Archery, maker of high-quality and affordable bowfishing and archery accessories announces a new and improved Piranha and Piranha Long Barb to their extensive line of bowfishing tips.

Based on the concept of their original Piranha bowfishing tip the new and improved Piranha and Piranha Long Barb makes strategic use of a stronger more robust spring steel Barb that grabs soft flesh fish and holds on tight. Machined from resilient 304 Stainless Steel this head is strong and resistant to corrosion with unmatched durability. Even though the Piranha and Piranha Long Barb are intended for soft flesh fish, such as common carp or big head- the inherent combination of Cajun Archery’s proprietary Jackhammer tip and the new improved barb system provides extreme penetration and holding power on fish with thick skin and course scales. Easily recognized because of the black barbs, these heads offer nearly 50% more durability making them one of the toughest points in the industry- equaling more fish in the boat trip after trip.

Although its’ barbs are not replaceable, the five-sided, Rockwell 50, super-sharp Jackhammer tip ensures you always have a sharp point. What’s more, by simply unscrewing the tip a few turns the barbs easily reverse providing lightning fast fish removal. And, with its competitive price point, these points won’t break the bank of any bowfisherman not matter what his level of enthusiasm.

Cajun Archery Discovers Opel and Record Rough Fish

Logan, UT- Cajun Archery is excited to announce that their products were used to stick not one, but two world record carp.

Earlier this spring, heavy machinery Operating Engineer Darin Opel, got the last laugh when he found his diamond in the rough - a world record Bighead carp. With several days of extensive rainfall, the muddy Mississippi was living up to his namesake. After a few clear days, avid hunter and bowfisherman Darrin Opel headed to the familiar waters of the Mississippi near Alton, Illinois for some afternoon bowfishing. Using his Martin Panther bow, equipped with a Cajun Yellow Jacket and Sting-A-Ree Tournament tip, he stalked the river banks in search of the muddy river's monster carp.

"It was kind of funny- all the pole fisherman were making fun of me because I thought I kept seeing a fish. One guy was even confident enough to yell to me, 'It's a log, that's no fish.' I guess I kind of got the last laugh though," Opel said.

Darin continued to stalk along the bank and watch what the fisherman deemed "the log." However, the giant fish finally moved. He quickly drew his bow and launched an arrow into the fish that would strip all the line from his Shakespeare Synergy reel three times before succumbing to Darrin's robust bowfishing set up.

"Originally, I thought I missed him, but then he gave me the fight of my life," said Opel.

After landing his giant Bighead, the exhausted Opel knew this was a special fish. Never did he guess what the next few days would bring, or that the Mississippi giant would measure 62 inches-long and have 30 inches in girth. Opel's giant tipped the scales at a whopping 92.5 pounds!

Since catching his first record fish, Opel has also landed another giant Common carp that measured, 25 inches-long and 15 inches in girth and weighed 30lbs. 10oz. Opel has been interviewed on news television shows all over the world and featured in many publications across the United States. His name will appear in the 2009 Guinness Book of World Records as the world record holder for both fish, despite the state of Illinois choosing not recognize them as such since both fish were not caught on a traditional fishing pole.

Opel is also very active in other forms of outdoor sports. Because of his unique position as an Operating Engineer, he is able to work half the year and hunt and trap during his free time. In any given year, Opal will chase several species of animals including bear, turkey, mule deer, elk and antelope in a variety of mid-west and western states. His recent bowfishing success has made him very appreciative of what he's been able to accomplish in the field and on the water. "This was a real accomplishment for me. I just love to hunt and trap, that's all; I am very lucky," he said.

When asked why he chose Cajun Archery equipment to do his bowfishing Opel simply stated, "I use Cajun stuff because it works. It's affordable, durable, and the company really knows bowfishing."

"It's is a really exciting occurrence for all of us at Cajun Archery. To have a single carp of record book-caliber shot with our products is one thing, but to have a second shot by the same guy, in the same river, with the same arrow and tip is amazing. What an accomplishment, and what a great way to further put Cajun on the map," said Dave White, President of Cajun Archery.

Since his accomplishments this spring, Opel has since been added to the Cajun Archery Pro Staff as a 2008 honorary member. He was also presented with a plaque for his accomplishments, along with a gift pack of Cajun equipment to hopefully harvest more record book fish.

"We're happy for Darrin and look forward to seeing what else he has in store for us this year. His support and accomplishments are very distinguished. We're happy to have him on board," said White.

Cajun Archery manufactures, produces, and distributes an extensive line of functional and affordable archery products, including a wide variety of bowfishing gear and packages. Corolla Capital Management Sees Hot Buy in Hot Shot Archery

Hot Shot

Logan, UT- Corolla Capital Management, LLC owner of several quality outdoor brands such as Cajun Archery, Aborigine Blowguns, Tusker Broadheads and The Plucker has recently purchased Hot Shot Archery of Orem, Utah. Best known for their archery releases, Hot Shot is home to several high-quality bowhunting accessories including quivers and other release components.

"The purchase of Hot Shot was really a no-brainer for us. The product is as solid as they come, with proven technology and innovation. Unfortunately, for the last few years they just haven’t been active in the marketplace. We’re excited to see what we can achieve with this brand and we’re optimistic about Hot Shot’s future", stated Dave White of Corolla Capital Management.

Started in 1975, Hot Shot Archery was one of the Archery Industry’s first manufacturers of mechanical release aids. Their innovations set the benchmark for mechanical releases and revolutionized the industry as a whole. During the company’s 30+-year tenure, Hot Shot created, developed and marketed many popular release aids- many of which are still used by archers today.

Corolla Capital Management, LLC joined the ranks of the hunting fraternity in 2005 with it's initial purchase of Cajun Archery. Since then, CCM has acquired several other manufacturers and maximized their potential via stringent production standards, quality product design, a dedication to excellent service and a top-notch management team.

Hot Shot headquarters were moved from Orem to Logan, Utah on March 19th, 2008 where they will resume assembly and production of the existing HotShot product line. For now, the product line will consist of past offerings as Corolla calculates their approach for the rest of the 2008 calendar year and 2009.

"For the remainder of 2008 we’re focused on working on Hot Shot’s branding. For the most part our focus is to gauge how the market adapts to us marketing again and go from there. We really feel like this company has a bright future and are excited by the challenges ahead of us." said, Dave White.
